More Money for the Climate
In 2019, Munich passed a city council resolution that the city will be climate-neutral by 2035. A climate emergency was also declared.
But what is still missing is a structured plan with the steps to achieve this goal and how this goal can be financed.
One thing is clear - we need more money for the climate in Munich. With the previous measures and resources - e.g. for the conversion of the heat supply - climate neutrality is not possible for 2035. There needs to be a massive investment here.
Fossil Free Munich has joined forces with other civil society organizations, and talked to the city treasurer about it.
At the end of November, a city council hearing on the subject of "Sustainable Finance" took place in the City Hall- we also made our demands and suggestions there.

The presentation and the keynote speech can be found in this page. As a further basis for discussion, we at Fossil Free Munich also have one Data collection on municipal investments in climate protection/climate adaptation compiled and converted to Munich.
We'll stay tuned - also in 2023 - because time is pressing.
