About us

We are a group of activists committed to promote Fossil Fuel Divestment in the city of Munich and in Bayern. We talk to any kind of local institution, like the City Council or any other civil, private and religious organization.

We are working to the fossil-free future calling for a full switch to renewable energies.

One of our biggest targets is the fastest possible shutdown of the Munich-North 2 Heating Coal Power Plant.

We are part of the Fossil Free Campaign, launched and supported by 350.org worldwide. We are part of the global climate justice movement that aims to end the fossil-based era.

Fossil Free: This is how we imagine our future!

Climate change threatens humanity and nature, here in Germany - and worldwide. We must stop burning fossil fuels and destroy our environment.

Keep it in the ground, leave fossil fuels in the ground! We need to give up on fossil fuels.

Together, we can make the 100% renewable energy switch that we need.

We are committed to switching to 100% renewable energy as soon as possible. We want to help shape a society no longer dependent on fossil fuels. Wherever in the city coal, gas and oil are still burned, we try to be creative and to find ways to make Munich fossil-free.

We are working on our fossil-free future

Through actions, workshops and background discussions, we push citizens and decision-makers to recognise challenges and tackle them courageously.

Demonstrations and actions

For a fossil-free transition, an actual political will is needed.

With our demonstrations, we give voice to all those people asking for a fossil-free future. We put pressure on politicians, decision-makers and entrepreneurs. We are clearly telling them that we must get rid of fossil fuels as quickly as possible.

Background talks and panel discussions:

To convince the city council, churches, banks, insurance companies and other institutions to give up on fossil fuels, dialogue is needed.

We are trying to understand which are the obstacles in the way towards a fossil-free future and how we can overcome them together.

Workshop and information events

To make citizen active in helping shape the transition to 100% renewable energies, information and awareness are needed.

Through workshops and events, we try to impart them important background information, facts and know-how. When it comes to climate and finance, many people do not feel sufficiently informed. We are trying to fill this gap because we believe that awareness is the foundation that can convince people to switch to fossil-free financial investments.

Ouralliances and networks

We work with the climate justice movement in Munich and beyond to achieve our common vision.  In order to have the greatest lever for change and transformation together, we are part of alliances and networks to create a fossil - free to shape the future of Munich.

Here is a selection of our alliances and networks:

Network Clean Energy Munich:

We are a network of various organisations, groups and initiatives in the greater Munich area fighting together for Munich to phase out fossil fuels as quickly as possible. We are united by the conviction that Munich must play its part in the energy transition and finally stop generating energy from fossil fuels!

As a network, we are not an independent organization in which private individuals have come together, but rather coordinate the joint work of various organizations, groups and initiatives in Munich to address the issues of "No GuD3" and "Exit Spirit Energy’ to be kept on the urban political and media agenda in the long term. Our overarching goal is a clean energy supply for the whole of Munich

Munich must act

With Munich must act, we have been supporting the demands of the Fridays for Future movement since July 2019.  In December 2019, our alliance with other organizations and initiatives called for Munich to be climate neutral by 2035 - with success: the demand was written down in the coalition agreement of the green-red Munich government.
